NOTICE: The Part 380 Subpart E "new CDL" driver qualification training requirement is in effect for all NEW (drivers obtaining a CDL after July 20, 2003) interstate Commercial Drivers License (C.D.L.) drivers. Several states have adopted the Part 380 driver qualification requirement for all new intrastate CDL drivers (see links below).

An "Entry-Level Driver Training Certificate" is required under 49 CFR 380.505. After drivers complete the required entry-level training (49 CFR Part 380), a copy of the certification needs to be given to the driver and a copy placed in
the driver's qualification or personnel file.
